Monroe Braves Lacrosse Club Frequently Asked Questions

Spring 2024 Registration is now OPEN! Please Click Here to Register for Spring 2024.

Please help us spread the word about registration!  Tell your friends, neighbors and classmates that registration is open. Please follow us on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/MonroeBravesLacrosse, share our posts, and stay up to date with the Monroe Braves Youth Lacrosse Club program.

Why do we register now for a “spring” sport?
The league we play in, the South Jersey Youth Lacrosse League, requires us to submit the number of teams we will have in each age group by the first week of February.  League Play begins in mid-March.  We have to hold our registration this early so we can get a handle on how many teams we will have at each division, hold indoor clinics to get the kids warmed up for the season, and give us enough time to order uniforms.

Is it too late to learn how to play lacrosse?
You can learn to play lacrosse at any age. We welcome beginners at all of our age levels.

Costs
Registration is $200 per player for Grades 3 - 8 and $145 for Grades K - 2. We do have sibling discounts. We have taken great lengths to reduce the cost of playing lacrosse. Included in your registration fee is
the mandatory USA Lacrosse Membership ($35), a reversible jersey and shorts/skirts uniform ($60), club and referee fees, clinic space rentals, and the end of year party with player gift.

Is there an additional fee if I do NOT live in Monroe Township?
Monroe Township may be implementing a mandatory out-of-town fee for the 2024 calendar year. The proposed fee for 2024 is $30. Under previous town laws, our club had not met the requirements for the township to charge this fee for out of town lacrosse players. Should Monroe Township pass an updated law, the town will be contacting those outside of Monroe Township to collect. The Monroe Lacrosse Board tried hard to fight this fee, especially for those towns that do not offer lacrosse, but this sounds like something the town will be implementing. Please contact Monroe Lacrosse at [email protected] if you have any questions.

What equipment will my kid need before the 1st practice or clinic?
See the USA Lacrosse Equipment Guide under the Equipment tab for details on what specific equipment is needed. We have some donated equipment that we make available to players, check with your coach at one of the first clinics. Boys and Girls Equipment can be found on Facebook Marketplace, be purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods in Deptford, and/or Play It Again Sports in Deptford. We usually get a 20% off everything at Dick's Sporting Goods in Deptford in mid-February. All kids grades K - 2 will receive a loaner stick if they need one.

How can I VOLUNTEER to Coach?
We need assistant coaches for our younger K-3 teams. No experience is required. Please indicate interest on your child's registration by Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. Applicants need to complete a NJ Youth Sports Background Check through Monroe Township, Valid US Lacrosse Membership, Cleared US Lacrosse Background Check, and have competed the Athlete Abuse Prevention Course. We can walk you through all of the steps.

How can I HELP FUND-RAISE?
Every dollar we fund raise helps pay for new equipment and helps keep registration fees as low as possible. We are looking for help for our fundraisers. Please reach out if interested or if you have ideas.
